Civil War Confederate Army Super TOOB®
History:
The American Civil War was fought between 1861 and 1865 between the Union Army – representing the Northern States – and the Confederates representing the South.
There were many causes of the Civil War. One of the major issues was slavery. Slaves imported from Africa were a large part of the labor force in the South, and the Confederates believed that the North’s attempts to eliminate slavery were an infringement on their Constitutional rights, while the North believed that enslavement of other human beings violated their human rights.
The Civil war cost the lives of over 620,000 Americans. It would eventually end beginning with the surrender of the Confederate General Robert E. Lee on April 9th, 1865. As news of the prominent general’s surrender spread, other Confederate forces also began to lay down their arms, with the last general surrendering on June 23rd, 1865.
