History:

The Colosseum, also known as the Coliseum or Flavian Amphitheater, was built in the year 80 A.D. and was used for many public events, including gladiator battles, dramatic theater and re-enactments of ancient battles, including naval battles where the entire building was filled with water. Today, the building is a popular attraction for tourists, and has become one of the most well-known structures affiliated with the city of Rome.
